Latitude Encounters
Latitude is all about exploring, appreciating, and protecting our amazing planet.
The world is for everyone to explore and experience, all we have to do in return is look after it and it’s inhabitants.
Our trips are open to anyone who wants to explore the ocean in a different way.
We are a team of ocean-loving, world protecting, adventure-seeking humans.
Scuba and freedivers with over 10 years in the dive and tourism industry. We have joined forces to create Latitude, a company where we can share everything we’ve learned interacting with the ocean. We want to give you the opportunity to experience wildlife in a way you never thought possible.
The Team
FER
This is Fernanda, and she’s the one who started it all! Born in Mexico City but a citizen of the world, she now calls Baja her home. Fer is a SCUBA and freediving instructor, cave diver and long-time wildlife guide who was been working in and around the ocean for the past decade.
When you meet her, you’ll see her passion and energy for wildlife and adventure are contagious! She’s great with people and animals alike and is always excited about sharing her knowledge and love for the ocean with everyone that surrounds her.
MATHIAS
Meet Mathias, a natural teacher and ocean lover. Before beginning his diving career, Mathias was a teacher in Belgium. The desire to change his lifestyle brought him to the south of Mexico as a dive instructor. There, he guided groups interacting with salt water crocodiles. It was these wildlife encounters that made him realize his love for sharing the water with big animals.
After finding his way to Baja California -the perfect spot for big animal encounters- and with over over 10 years of experience in the diving industry, Mathias makes sure to share his love of the ocean with everyone on board.

Katy Ayres - Guide
Dr. Ayres (yes, she’s received her PhD and we are so proud) is a marine biologist and National Geographic explorer. Specializing in sharks, we guarantee your encounters with Katy on board will be not only exciting but educational.

Andres has been working on the ocean his whole life, working on dive boats and liveaboards for many years. He is always excited about the animals we see and knows how to get you in the right place for that epic picture every time.

Business administrator, yoga teacher and certified massage therapist in love with nature and the ocean. What makes her happy the most is being active and outdoors, either at sea or in the mountains.

The newest addition to the Latitude family, Rocinante is comfortable and safe. We want to make sure our guests have the best experience possible and our own private boat ensures that we can always offer it to you.

Marianto - Digital
Freediver. ocean lover, and constantly on the move across the globe. Marianto went out on an ocean safari with us in March of 2021 and has been dreaming of returning to Baja California since!
What We Stand For
Adventure
Adventure is our way of life, it is what brought our team together and has been the navigation for our lives in the past years, always looking for the next adventure and the best experiences. A sense of adventure is what will bring you to Latitude.
Respect & Conservation
Respect for wildlife and for each other is what makes our interactions so special. We never chase or force animals. Thanks to our years of experience and knowledge of animal behavior, we’ve learnt how to approach them in the most respectful and careful way, to avoid causing them any damage or stress. Respect for each other is one of our core values, everyone is welcome to join us on an adventure and we are always happy to cater to your needs. Respect for the planet is always present in our minds and everything we do.
Conservation and tourism go hand in hand. At Latitude, we support local research and conservation efforts through our citizen science projects as well as participating in local events such as beach and ocean cleanups. People protect what they love, and we are here to make you fall in love with the ocean. During all of our trips, we attempt to educate all participants about the species they are encountering and current related conservation issues and achievements.
Safety
We know it's all very exciting, but rest assured that our top priority is for everyone to come home safe at the end of the day.
Your safety and the safety of the animals is of utmost importance to us.
All of your guides are trained in emergency first response and are certified dive instructors. We have a complete set of emergency care and first aid kit on all trips. The guide will also carry a satellite phone so we can communicate at all times.
