Baja California: the perfect place to be year-round!

Make the best of 2022 by planning your perfect adventure getaway to Baja California

Whether you want to escape from the cooler winter months, or just have a craving for adventure…check out what every season has in store for you here in Baja California, Mexico!

WINTER January - May

Whales, whales, whales! Humbpacks and gray whales can be spotted throughout the Peninsula. The best way to see the majestic humpbacks is on a One-Day Ocean Safari which departs from Cabo San Lucas. The gray whales make their way up to very calm and protected bays and our Gray Whale Expedition to Magdalena Bay is bound to be an unforgettable trip. The light gray color of these whales makes them stand out against the ocean’s blue but the most exciting part is when they come close to the boats to receive some human scratches…trust us, you’ll never forget what it’s like to touch a whale. Contact us for details.

March and April are the best months to spot blue, mako, and even hammerhead sharks. They make their appearance in the Baja California waters due to colder temperatures (avg. 20* Celsius).

SPRING May-June

Let’s catch a fever! And no, we don’t mean from the flu…a group of rays is called a fever and spring is Mobula season! Seeing these huge congregations of mobulas is breathtaking. We can even spot them from the surface as they jump and spin in the air and then enjoy magical moments underwater.
As the water temperature begins to rise, the water becomes clearer and it’s a perfect season for our Big Animal expeditions. Species such as sperm whales, whale sharks, pilot whales, and a variety of sharks can be spotted. Check out our expedition report to see the incredible encounters we had last year!

SUMMER July-Aug

Silky sharks are in town! This smooth and beautiful species makes its way to Baja with the warmer waters. It’s their mating season so it isn’t rare to see bite marks on some of the females as the males use their teeth during their mating process. We

It’s also a great season to spot the giant mantas! These gentle giants can measure up to 7 meters (23 feet) across and they are a true spectacle to observe underwater.

AUTUMN Nov-Dec

The Marlins are in town! They make their way to Baja California following the sardine run along the Pacific ocean. It’s a spectacle to see these color-changing fish hunt. Other species such as boobies (birds), sea lions, cetaceans, and sharks also enjoy the meal so you’re bound to experience some incredible interactions. Learn more about the Marlin migration here.

Here’s a little extra motivation (in case you needed more): Orcas can make a surprise appearance year-round! And one thing is for certain: we can always guarantee a great time on board, full of smiles with other ocean-lovers in tow.
