The Baja peninsula is one of the last wild frontiers
The abundance of life in the ocean is unparalleled. It is no surprise that Jacque Cousteau once called the Sea of Cortez the Aquarium of the world. The unique environment created by the bottom topography, variable currents, and the merging Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean is what makes this place unique.
This Open Ocean Safari is all about exploration. Every day has the potential to be amazing. While we often have incredible wildlife encounters the ocean is an unpredictable place, there is never a guarantee of what we will find. Stepping on a boat and taking a chance is the only way to experience true magic in the ocean.
During our Open Ocean Safaris we have come across a huge variety of pelagic life. We have some regular visitors like dolphins, turtles, humpback whales, marlins, Sea-lions and rays. However we do also come across some unexpected visitors. beaked whales, minkie whales, sperm whales and so many other cetacean travel through this area that we can never cease to be amazed. On the best days we may encounter the kings and Queens of the ocean, The Orca.
While the ocean can be unpredictable, on our Open Ocean Safari we create the opportunity for incredible encounters. Dare to be the explorer you always wanted to be, go out into the open ocean and see what mother nature has to offer.
What’s the day like
This trip is all about exploring, we set out from the marina in Los Cabos in search of the wonders of the ocean. We have 6 hours to explore the area. Based on the previous days activity and any reports we may have we will decide to explore either the pacific ocean or the Sea Of Cortez.
We will try to get into the water with whatever we find, however it is always important t observe the animals behavior before we enter the water.
This can be a fast paced trip and we will hopefully be getting in and out of the water thought the day.
