The southern coast of Baja is one of the best places in the world for pelagic shark encounters
The unique ocean topography combined with the nutrient-rich water brought by the merging Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean is ideal for many species of pelagic sharks.
Mako Sharks, Blue Sharks, Silky Sharks, and Smooth Hammerheads visit our waters throughout the year. The best months for shark interactions are from February to July. With colder water comes Makos and Blue Sharks, and as the water gets warmer the Hammerheads and Silkies show up.
Being in the open ocean with sharks is an unforgettable, life-changing experience. Sharks have an unfortunate reputation, but they are in reality very sensitive animals and are just as curious about us as we are of them. The whole activity takes place on the surface, where we safely interact with some of the world’s most fascinating creatures. Safety is above all, our first priority. You will always be in the water with an experienced guide. We will provide a detailed briefing before entering the water and will be there, close by, to guide you and maintain control.
We have tried and tested many shark spots around the peninsula and we will decide where to go on a daily basis, according to the previous day’s action, weather, and water conditions. We use non-invasive chumming techniques that have been developed and proven for their efficiency and safety, in order to attract the shark to the boat for the interaction
Swimming with sharks generates a kind of passive adrenaline that is sure to get you hooked.
Whats the day like
Depending on the time of year and the day, we will travel a distance from 5 to 30 miles to reach our shark spot. Once we are there, you will receive a very detailed briefing from your guide. We will go over everything we are doing to attract the sharks and most importantly the the rules and guidelines for when we are in the water. While we wait for the sharks to show up we will share lots of interesting information on shark behavior and biology, as well as some of the risks they face in our oceans and what we can do to help protect them. Once the sharks show up we will get in the water one at a time for the best part: Swimming with Sharks. After the interaction is over we head back to the marina, always keeping an eye out for what we can encounter on the way.
